An amazing recreation of the whisky that accompanied explorer Ernest Shackleton and his crew on their unsuccessful expedition to reach the South Pole. In 2007, whilst carrying out conservation work on the Shackleton’s expedition hut, members of the New Zealand Antarctic Heritage Trust discovered crates of Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt, a brand owned by Whyte & Mackay. Master Blender Richard Paterson was tasked to recreate this special find, reproducing the actual Mackinlay’s whisky taken from the ill-fated 1907 expedition.
The booklet for this particular bottle comes signed by the man himself Richard ‘the nose’ Paterson. Blended Malt Whisky. 70cl. 47.3% vol. Package in very good condition.
